Jason has 30 years of distinguished public service, including serving Alberta Legislature as a Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Calgary-Hawkwood (2012-2015).
He holds a master’s degree in social work from the University of Calgary (1990) and has dedicated his career to public service, promoting healthy families, strong communities & economic prosperity. Jason is passionate about community development, cultural diversity and social inclusion. He is also active building business ties between Alberta and China and the broader world.
He served as a social worker for the former Alberta Family and Social Services (1990-1997), and a variety of roles (Social Planner, Senior Counseller, Manager, Community Lead) for the City of Calgary (1997-present), managing funding for non-profit social service agencies. He is proud to have made a difference in many lives through his professional service and volunteer contributions serving his community. He was an Immigrant of Distinction Award Finalist in 2011 and a recipient of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012.
